Schisandra
Treatment
Schisandra, sometimes called Chinese magnolia vine or five flavor fruit, is a vine used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). In TCM, schisandra is known for benefitting several meridians, or energy pathways in the body, including those regulating the heart, lungs, liver, and kidneys. This plant has a long history of therapeutic use: it's been studied and used as a preventative or treatment for everything from heart disease and liver disorders to cancer and chronic stress in many parts of the world, including Japan, Russia, and Korea. It may be a relative newcomer to some American health seekers, but there's a lot of excitement about this vine's healing potential.
