The Keystone Approach: Healing Arthritis and Psoriasis by Restoring the Microbiome

We are currently witnessing a paradigm shift in the understanding of autoimmune disease. The latest scientific research reveals that the balance of bacteria in an individual's microbiome can have a profound impact on inflammation throughout the body. In those with psoriasis or autoimmune arthritis, there is often a characteristic lack of certain beneficial bacteria that normally regulate the immune system - known as "keystone" species. This is typically coupled with an excess of harmful bacteria that provoke an unwanted immune response. The Keystone Approach calms inflammation at the source by addressing both of these factors- restoring the balance of good and bad bacteria in the microbiome. Doing so can make a life-changing difference for those with autoimmune conditions, especially psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and rheumatoid arthritis. Medical writer Rebecca Fett shares her own story of successfully addressing her long-standing psoriatic arthritis through dietary changes, carefully chosen probiotics, and other supplements. The dietary changes at the core of the Keystone Approach emphasize a lower carbohydrate Mediterranean diet, based on a vast array of scientific evidence demonstrating that this way of eating is the best way to rebalance the microbiome and calm inflammation. You will learn why the starches and saturated fats emphasized in the autoimmune paleo diet are in fact counter-productive for many with psoriasis and arthritis, along with getting detailed guidance on choosing probiotics and other supplements supported by good-quality clinical trials.

House Call with Dr. Mark Hyman: Conquering Arthritis Naturally

Arthritis has become a 21st century epidemic, affecting 1 out of every 4 people. Even more shocking is that 30% of adults age 45-64 have doctor diagnosed arthritis. Something has changed in our environment, making all types of arthritis more and more prevalent. Inflammation is the most basic problem in all arthritis, whether it is what we traditionally call “inflammatory arthritis,” like autoimmune rheumatoid arthritis, or the arthritis most associated with wear and tear on joints over time, osteoarthritis. The traditional medical approach to these two kinds of joint inflammation is to use medications to block the inflammation process. Although these can be successful in decreasing symptoms and can in some cases prevent further joint destruction, the medications don’t get at the root cause of why you developed the inflammation in the first place. Functional medicine takes a deeper look at the causes of inflammation and gives you options for reversing the process where it starts: in the gut, in the mouth, from your food, and from the stress response. Traditionally, doctors almost never evaluate these areas when addressing joint pain, but fortunately functional medicine has the tools to do just that. In this interview, Dr. Susan Blum presents a new way to treat arthritis. In her new book, Healing Arthritis, you will learn the best food plan for arthritis, the precise supplements and dosage we recommend to reduce pain and inflammation, how to build resiliency so that life’s stressors won’t affect your health, and what your gut has to do with your arthritis symptoms. In essence, Dr. Blum gives you all the tools you need to fix your gut and heal your arthritis. I am so excited to share this interview with you. I hope you enjoy it.

Learn True Health: Natural and Affordable Pain Relief That Works & Arthritis

People will generally do anything to be pain free. But more often than not, we tend to go overboard with taking medication. But what if I tell you there’s an affordable, natural solution to be pain free? Sheri Weaver is my guest today who will tell us all about this amazing product. Initially Clueless Sheri Weaver admits that three years ago, she really had no education nor experience about this pain free industry. She was initially into designing gemstones and scarf charms. Designing was a big part of her life. Then tragedy struck. Sheri Weaver friend’s son got shot five times. Fortunately, he did not die but was in the hospital for quite a long time. He was struggling with so much pain, that taking morphine wasn’t enough for him to be pain free. Sheri Weaver’s friend then went to a Farmers’ Market saw a stall selling natural pain relief products. She sent it to her son and it was effective! Sheri Weaver thought about her mom and her back pain. But rather than wanting some, Sheri Weaver’s mom requested the pain relief product for another good friend who happened to be suffering more than her. It was a perfect chance for Sheri Weaver to see how the product works on somebody with severe pain. Sheri Weaver’s mom, later on, reported that her friend got 50% relief from using the product which is really considered miraculous for those suffering from severe cases. Career Shift What happened to the friend of Sheri Weaver’s mom was an eye-opener. During her gems events, Sheri Weaver recalled setting up a small table to sell the pain relief products. And within the first two shows, the products sold out! That moment served as a transitioning point for Sheri Weaver. She now works as a Marketing Representative for the Real Time Pain Relief company. For the past three years, she has helped thousands of people get off pain pills and be pain free. Real Time Pain Relief The Oklahoma-based company was founded in 1998. The product was developed by a doctor and a high school basketball coach. Initially, the product was developed for their young basketball players to heal from injury and be pain free. Among the benefits of the cream include relief from pain, provide the bodies with nutrients that heal, cuts inflammation and promotes blood circulation. Real Time Pain Relief contains 19 healing ingredients, 14 ingredients to fight inflammation and 3 ingredients to increase blood circulation. It is also capable of penetrating 7 layers below the skin surface. “It has nutrients to help the body recover from injury faster. In 2011, the company opened a vendor program. We had network marketing but recently transitioned to non-network marketing. This is because we are earning shares of stock in the company,” said Sheri Weaver. The company now offers wholesale and retail products as well as awarding reward points for purchases. They work alongside chiropractors as well as accredited distributors. Effectiveness Of RTPR Cream Sheri Weaver says the creams are used by athletes in a variety of sports. It is heavily used among bull riders and marathon runners.

Her grandmother had Arthritis and her joint pain and joint cracking started very young. Rheumatoid Arthritis affects 1.5 million adults and it's one of the most common autoimmune diseases. Sarah was diagnosed with it at 28. They said "It won't be debilitating for ten years!" Joints and spines don't have a lot of blood flow, so they heal very slowly. Arthritis is an autoimmune condition in which the immune system attacks the joints and they stiffen up Collagen and gelatin are good for joints because they are high in glycine, the amino acid important in forming bones, skin, and cartilage. You can incorporate broth into anything! If it simmers away then the nutrients are staying! Sarah recommends Avocado as well. Especially in pudding form. She uses the Practical Paleo recipe as well as the PaleOMG recipe Sarah says the Real Life Paleo Phased Approach is really good for transition. And if your vitamin deficient, you might want to supplement, particularly Vitamin D. But don't overdo it! In terms of lifestyle factors, first quit smoking! Less sleep makes you more sensitive to pain and sleeping more decreases symptoms of arthritis! So get to bed! Stacy recommends that you not drink caffeine in the afternoon at all for sleep quality.
